GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Michigan Hand Center is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Maupin to its outstanding team of physicians. Dr. Maupin earned his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and his medical degree from the University of Illinois at the Medical Center. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training at Northwestern University Medical School and completed fellowships in both Hand and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand and Microvascular Surgery.

Dr. Maupin joins the Michigan Hand Center with extensive experience in Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery. His surgical experience includes Spectrum Health, Mary Free Bed, Saint Mary’s, Kent Community Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital.

Dr. Maupin is also a member of the American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society, Michigan Orthopaedic Society, Kent County Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and a named Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

A published author, Dr. Maupin has written several articles in the areas of Hand and Orthopaedics including:

  • Ligament Injuries of the Hand and Wrist
  • The Use of a Grommet Bone Liner for Flexible Hinge Implant Arthroplasty of the Great Toe
  • Failed Carpal Bone Arthroplasty: Causes and Treatment
  • Bipolar Implant Shoulder Arthroplasty
  • Scaphoid Implant Resection Arthroplasty: Long-Term Results

As an active member in the West Michigan Community, Dr. Maupin has served on a variety of committees including the Research and Institutional Review Board at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Infection Control Committee at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Quality Assurance Committee for Orthopaedic Department at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Executive Board, Orthopaedic Advisory Council at Priority Health, Business Advisory Committee for Forest Hills School District and the Forest Hills High Schools Mentorship Program.

Dr. Maupin is also an Associate Clinical Professor as a faculty member in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Michigan State University.

Based in West Michigan, the Michigan Hand Center provides care for disorders and injuries of the hand, wrist, and upper extremity. Their physicians are board certified and include Orthopaedic surgeons and plastic surgeons with specialty training in microsurgery and reconstructive hand surgery.
